Job Description

Overview

Research Medical Center is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist Lead to provide technical leadership and oversight for laboratory personnel, coordinating daily activities and ensuring quality control. This role requires a dedication to patient care and the ability to investigate test results and facilitate educational efforts within the lab.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for Blood Bank section personnel
  • Plan and coordinate daily activities for laboratory staff
  • Document and recommend performance evaluations or disciplinary actions
  • Perform preanalytic, analytic, and post-analytic biochemical/hematologic testing
  • Investigate unexpected test results and monitor quality control
  • Maintain a safe work area and professional work habits
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and evaluation of new test methodologies
  • Teach theory and procedures to medical technology students and train other laboratory employees

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree as a Medical Technologist (MT-AAB) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
  • 3 years experience in an accredited laboratory
  • 2 years experience in the technical area preferred
  • Hospital laboratory experience preferred
