Overview

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist, Advanced to join their team at Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina. In this role, the scientist will perform a variety of routine and complex technical tasks in laboratory tests for diagnosing and treating diseases, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex laboratory tests
  • Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation
  • Process patient samples for testing
  • Troubleshoot assay problems as needed
  • Document quality control and assurance results
  • Train new staff and provide technical guidance
  • Participate in the development of new lab tests and techniques
  • Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science
  • Generalist certification for general labs
  • Specialty certification for specialty labs
  • Two years of experience as a certified Medical Lab Scientist
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety and quality assurance protocols
  • Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and assay issues
