Overview

Endeavor Health is seeking a part-time Medical Lab Scientist (Generalist/Core Lab) to perform various clinical laboratory tests under general supervision at Elmhurst Hospital. The role requires accurate test result analysis, quality control, and effective communication with clinical personnel. This position offers an opportunity to grow within a supportive healthcare organization dedicated to providing high-quality care.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform clinical laboratory tests manually and with automated equipment.
  • Review patient test results for accuracy and notify clinical personnel of critical results.
  • Conduct quality control and document corrective actions when necessary.
  • Perform instrument checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital and laboratory policies.
  • Promote patient satisfaction and customer service values.
  • Participate in continuing education and departmental meetings.
  • Handle biohazardous materials according to established protocols.
  • Assist in training new employees and students.
  • Maintain inventory and supplies within the department.

Required skills

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science
  • Registration with ASCP or equivalent
  • Experience with clinical laboratory processes
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures
  • Ability to interpret and analyze test results
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
