Job Description

Overview

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist at Alaska Regional Hospital, you will be an integral part of a dedicated laboratory team that values compassionate patient care and precise testing. Your responsibilities will involve performing blood tests, studying blood components, and maintaining laboratory equipment to support diagnosis and treatment.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive blood specimens and perform blood tests.
  • Study the morphology of blood components.
  • Perform various routine and special clinical laboratory tests.
  • Maintain and use laboratory equipment including automated analyzers.
  • Perform antibody screening and identification, and cross-matching procedures.
  • Notify nursing units or physicians of critical lab values.
  • Implement new testing methods and technology.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.
  • Nationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS or MLT).
  • 3-5 years of laboratory experience.
  • Basic Life Support Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
