Job Description

Overview

As a Medical Lab Scientist at Lone Peak Hospital, you will play a crucial role in the laboratory team, supporting various departments and ensuring high-quality patient care through accurate testing and compassionate interactions. Your responsibilities will include performing blood tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, and implementing new testing methods to keep the department current with technology.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive and process blood specimens
  • Perform routine and special clinical laboratory tests
  • Conduct microscopic analysis of blood components
  • Maintain and operate various laboratory equipment
  • Perform antibody screening and cross-matching procedures
  • Notify nursing units and physicians of critical lab values
  • Implement new testing methods and instrumentation

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Technology program
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology
  • Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)
  • One year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting (preferred)
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS or BCLS)
