Job Description

Overview

As a Medical Lab Scientist at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, you will play a crucial role in the Laboratory team, contributing to patient care through reliable testing and professional interactions. Your responsibilities will include performing blood tests, analyzing blood morphology, and maintaining laboratory equipment to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive and process blood specimens
  • Perform blood tests and analyze blood components
  • Conduct routine and special clinical laboratory tests
  • Utilize automated equipment and manual testing methods
  • Maintain laboratory equipment including chemistry analyzers and osmometers
  • Perform antibody screening and cross-matching procedures
  • Notify nursing units and physicians of critical lab values
  • Implement new testing methods and products

Required skills

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Technology program or related Bachelor's degree
  • National certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS or MLT) from ASCP or equivalent
  • One year of clinical laboratory experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS or BCLS)
