Overview

Join Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital as a Medical Lab Scientist in Mooresville, North Carolina, where you'll be part of a dedicated team providing compassionate care and a comprehensive range of medical services. You will perform various laboratory tests and technical tasks essential for diagnosing and treating diseases, ensuring the highest standards of quality control and assurance.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex laboratory tests to obtain diagnostic data.
  • Handle patient specimens and use standard techniques and equipment for testing.
  • Operate and maintain manual and computerized laboratory instrumentation.
  • Calibrate equipment and maintain compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Process patient samples ensuring appropriate techniques for quality testing.
  • Troubleshoot assay problems and communicate issues to senior staff.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and participate in inspections.
  • Document quality control results and report any instrument malfunctions.
  • Attend laboratory meetings and comply with safety training requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to students, interns, and staff as needed.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • Certification in Medical Technology preferred.
  • Experience in laboratory testing and techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with quality control and regulatory compliance.
