Overview

ColumbiaCare Services is seeking a Medical Billing Director to lead their billing department for a large, non-profit behavioral health organization in Medford, Oregon. The role involves overseeing medical billing, reimbursement, payer relations, and compliance operations, ensuring effective implementation of billing functions, especially during the transition to a new electronic health record system.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead strategic and operational initiatives for behavioral health billing operations and revenue cycle activities
  • Oversee claims management, payer relations, reimbursement optimization, and billing compliance
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote operational efficiency and financial performance
  • Analyze billing and reimbursement performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Provide leadership and professional development to billing staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability
  • Serve as the primary liaison with insurance carriers, managed care organizations, and regulatory agencies
  • Monitor changes to Medicaid billing regulations and participate in industry forums

Required skills

  • Five years of billing management experience in a Medicaid behavioral healthcare setting
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral health billing operations and revenue cycle management
  • Experience with claims processing, denial management, and insurance reimbursement
  • Proficient in EHR systems and medical billing applications
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to analyze complex billing data and implement effective solutions
  • Strong collaboration skills with external stakeholders and regulatory agencies
