Overview

The Medical Assistant III position at Skaggs Community Hospital Association involves performing both administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a healthcare provider. Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, taking vital signs, drawing blood, and assisting with medical procedures, among other tasks.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform administrative duties including scheduling appointments and maintaining medical records
  • Take and record vital signs and medical histories
  • Prepare patients for examination and draw blood
  • Assist with medical procedures and perform in-house labs as ordered by the provider
  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the provider
  • Answer phones and collect medical information
  • Clean rooms and equipment, and stock supplies

Required skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Proficient computer skills
  • BLS certification
  • Graduated from a formal MA training program including pharmacology, anatomy/physiology, and clinical externship
