Overview

West Fraser is seeking a Mechanical Tradesperson for their Jacksonville Beach location. The role involves operating and maintaining machinery, particularly the planer machine, while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Key responsibilities

  • Demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment and safety procedures
  • Perform critical measurements using a caliper
  • Set, monitor, and maintain the planer machine
  • Conduct minor repairs and preventive maintenance
  • Plan for and assist with major repairs
  • Maintain proper setup and operation of machinery
  • Feed the planer and ensure constant lumber flow
  • Perform housekeeping tasks as assigned
  • Assist with maintenance repairs on other machines

Required skills

  • Mechanical maintenance experience
  • Preventive maintenance knowledge
  • Ability to use hand tools
  • Experience in lumber processing
  • Understanding of safety procedures
  • Capacity to perform occasional heavy lifting
  • Completion of West Fraser Qualified Millwright training
  • Ability to pass Mechanical Reasoning and Millwright assessments
