Overview

West Fraser is seeking a Mechanical Tradesperson in Orange Park, Florida. This role involves operating and maintaining a planer machine, performing preventive maintenance, and addressing minor repairs while ensuring safety and efficiency in the production process.

Key responsibilities

  • Feed the planer and ensure consistent lumber flow through the machine
  • Maintain proper setup and operation of the planer
  • Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on the machine
  • Assist with major repair tasks as directed by the maintenance department
  • Change knives and ensure machine tolerances are met
  • Conduct housekeeping tasks as assigned by the supervisor
  • Complete West Fraser Qualified Millwright training and assessments

Required skills

  • Experience in mechanical maintenance
  • Ability to use hand tools and perform critical measurements with calipers
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and safety protocols
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in outside conditions
  • Familiarity with machine operation and troubleshooting
