Overview

West Fraser is seeking a Mechanical Technician in Orange Park, Florida. The role focuses on the setup, operation, and maintenance of a planer machine, requiring technical expertise to ensure quality production and equipment longevity.

Key responsibilities

  • Use personal protective equipment and adhere to safety rules and lockout procedures
  • Perform critical measurements and maintain the planer machine
  • Conduct minor repairs and preventive maintenance on the machine
  • Assist with major repairs in collaboration with the maintenance department
  • Ensure proper setup and operation of the planer for quality finishes
  • Feed the planer and maintain a constant flow of lumber through the machine
  • Change knives and perform routine maintenance and lubrication
  • Assist with maintenance repairs on other machines as directed
  • Maintain housekeeping as assigned by supervisor
  • Participate in West Fraser Qualified Millwright training

Required skills

  • Experience with machine operation and preventive maintenance
  • Familiarity with hand tools and ability to perform heavy lifting
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and calibration procedures
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in outdoor conditions
