Job Description

Overview

The Mechanical Technical Specialist at Jobot is responsible for providing hands-on support and reliability leadership within a large industrial manufacturing operation in Knoxville, Tennessee. This role focuses on mechanical troubleshooting, mentoring skilled trades, and driving long-term reliability and process improvements across maintenance and operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems to restore production flow
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and training to craft and maintenance employees
  • Serve as direct technical support to the maintenance organization
  • Respond to equipment issues and trouble calls as part of a shared 24/7 support structure
  • Analyze equipment behavior and recurring issues to identify root causes and long-term solutions
  • Support outage planning, downtime execution, and follow up on maintenance actions
  • Assist with justification, specification, and coordination of equipment rebuilds, repairs, and upgrades
  • Participate in and support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Apply lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving methods to improve equipment performance
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and engineering to resolve technical issues
  • Support process engineering efforts related to mechanical equipment and systems
  • Adhere to all safety, quality, and operational standards

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with industrial mechanical systems
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (preferred)
  • 5 or more years of experience supporting mechanical systems in an industrial environment (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operating equipment
  • Experience performing product or process failure analysis
  • Familiarity with reliability and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Exposure to combustion or gas-fired systems
  • Strong maintenance background with hands-on equipment experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work across departments and with cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with standard computer and office tools
