Overview

Hyperion Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for their Elevator Equipment location in Richmond, Indiana. The role focuses on designing and developing innovative mechanical solutions, particularly in hydraulic systems and fluid power for the elevator industry. The ideal candidate will become a technical resource for various engineering applications and undergo substantial product development efforts related to hydraulic elevator systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as a high-level mechanical engineering resource for hydraulic elevator products.
  • Become the subject matter expert for jack and power unit application support.
  • Independently design new hydraulic valve concepts and improve existing designs.
  • Support product innovation for hydraulic elevator systems and valve performance.
  • Conduct quality investigations and corrective actions for hydraulic components.
  • Write and execute engineering test plans for hydraulic systems.
  • Utilize simulation and analysis tools for design and validation.
  • Support manufacturing in testing, welding, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Improve product design documentation and apply design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Mentor and train lower-level engineers and drafters.
  • Act as a technical lead for Richmond engineering activities.

Required skills

  • Mechanical engineering product development experience
  • Strong mechanical design capability in fluid power and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to design and improve hydraulic components, especially valves
  • Experience using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
  • Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools
  • Ability to write and execute engineering test plans
  • Strong design-for-manufacturability mindset
  • Knowledge of engineering change control and release processes
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing and quality issues
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
