Job Description

Overview

The Mechanical Engineer at Johnson Thermal Systems is responsible for designing and developing Power Package units to meet customer specifications. This includes creating documentation, instructions, and drawings to guide fabrication and assembly while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

Key responsibilities

  • Create designs for manufacturing, including 2D and 3D modeling using CAD tools
  • Revise and document mechanical assemblies, drawings, and parts
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical engineering issues
  • Coordinate with third-party engineering firms to review structural elements
  • Prepare bills of materials for estimating costs
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure product safety and quality
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • 1-2 years of relevant engineering experience preferred
  • Familiarity with CAD tools, particularly SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of sheet metal work and capabilities preferred
  • Strong communication skills
