Overview

The Maternal Fetal Ultrasound Tech II at UNC Health works within a highly regarded maternal fetal medicine unit caring for high-risk pregnancies. The role involves performing diagnostic examinations and supporting physicians during procedures, with opportunities for skill development in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician during invasive diagnostic procedures
  • Consult with patients and assess for potential contraindications
  • Perform ultrasound procedures under supervision, including detailed anatomical evaluations and fetal assessments
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic sonograms for interpretation by specialists
  • Assist supervising physician with invasive procedures as needed
  • Evaluate sonographic findings to provide relevant diagnostic information
  • Recognize abnormalities requiring real-time imaging observation by a specialist
  • Utilize Doppler techniques for vascular and spectral waveforms interpretation
  • Advise regarding examination findings as directed

Required skills

  • Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited education program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent
  • ARDMS Registered in OB, OB GYN, and Fetal Echocardiography
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Two years of experience in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
