Overview

The Maternal Fetal Ultrasound Tech II at UNC Health plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services for high-risk pregnancies. This position is part of an AIUM Certified Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit, providing opportunities for professional development and collaboration within a supportive team dedicated to improving community health.

Key responsibilities

  • Independently operate diagnostic medical equipment for complex maternal-fetal ultrasound examinations.
  • Assist radiologists in invasive diagnostic techniques and provide training to residents.
  • Evaluate patient readiness for procedures and perform ultrasound scans under supervision.
  • Conduct detailed anatomical evaluations, complete fetal echocardiograms, and perform growth assessments.
  • Record and analyze anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for physician interpretation.
  • Advise on results and provide preliminary diagnostic evaluations of maternal-fetal scans.

Required skills

  • Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent.
  • ARDMS certification in OB and OB GYN and Fetal Echocardiography.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Two years of experience in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
  • Proficient in ultrasound imaging techniques and procedures.
