Overview

Raytheon is seeking a Materials Engineer II to join their Advanced Materials Section in Tucson, AZ. The role involves supporting the development and implementation of solutions related to materials science and engineering, with a specific focus on ceramics and composites. This position requires managing simultaneous tasks and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, while gaining mentorship from experienced engineers in the field.

Key responsibilities

  • Support research, development, and implementation of solutions to materials challenges.
  • Work with subject matter experts in ceramics and other materials.
  • Collect and compile data for reporting to internal and external customers.
  • Gain mentorship and hands-on experience from senior engineers.
  • Travel as needed to support programs and collaborate with vendors.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Ceramics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Experience with ceramics, coatings, or composite materials.
  • Strong verbal and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with mechanical and/or chemical analysis methods and characterization techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
