Job Description

Overview

The Material Handler at Johnson Thermal Systems is responsible for safely transporting materials between departments in a manufacturing setting. This role requires attention to detail, efficient operation with minimal supervision, and experience as a forklift operator. The position operates on the second shift from 5:00 pm to 3:30 am, Monday through Thursday.

Key responsibilities

  • Safely handle and transport materials in the fabrication department
  • Identify, label, and store materials appropriately
  • Inspect materials for damage or discrepancies and report findings
  • Maintain accurate records of materials received and distributed
  • Read work orders or receive instructions to determine work assignments
  • Examine forklifts daily and complete safety checklists
  • Communicate inventory status with supervisors
  • Sort materials or objects for processing or transport
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain an organized work environment
  • Complete other job-related responsibilities as assigned

Required skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years' experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Forklift certification
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Physical strength to carry up to 50 pounds and maneuver products up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
