Overview

The Cincinnati Art Museum (CAM) is seeking a fashion and textile curator for the newly endowed position of Mary W. Baskett Associate/Curator of Fashion Arts & Textiles. This role will be integral to the museum's curatorial team, focused on the stewardship and development of the museum's fashion and textile collection, including historic American and European dress and contemporary global fashion.

Key responsibilities

  • Stewardship of the fashion arts and textile collection
  • Supervision and professional development of a curatorial assistant
  • Project management of the Mary W. Baskett Gallery
  • Development and management of original exhibitions and temporary traveling exhibitions
  • Budget management for the Fashion Arts & Textiles department
  • Building relationships with museum constituents including donors and artists
  • Research and cataloging of collection objects
  • Publishing original research and lecturing on topics related to the collection
  • Participating in Cincinnati's arts ecosystem and representing CAM externally

Required skills

  • M.A. in Art History (Ph.D. preferred)
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in relevant curatorial positions
  • Understanding of museum practices
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant computer programs
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to academic endeavors and public engagement
