Overview

SUPERIOR MARINE TECHNICAL SERVICES INC is seeking a dedicated Marine Electronics Technician in Houma, LA. The role involves the installation, testing, repair, and maintenance of electronic systems on vessels, focusing on navigation and communication equipment. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, providing immediate support to vessels at sea.

Key responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair complex marine electronics
  • Perform system diagnostic tests and fault isolation
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Adhere to workplace safety rules and regulations
  • Prepare detailed service reports for repair and installation activities
  • Properly use and care for company-furnished tools and equipment

Required skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational certificate or two-year degree in Electronics or Marine Technology preferr
  • Valid Driver's License required for travel
  • FCC Licenses (General Radio License, Radar Endorsement, GMDSS Endorsement) within six months of employment
  • Proven experience as a Marine Electronics Technician or similar role
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and blueprints
  • Physical ability to stand, climb, and stoop for prolonged periods and lift 50 pounds
  • Availability for rotating on-call schedule on weekends
