Job Description

Overview

A.O. Smith is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor for its Welding processes in Lebanon, Tennessee. The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating Manufacturing Engineering Support in a water tank facility, with focus on developing efficient manufacturing methods and leading cross-functional teams to solve production issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods using data collection and analysis
  • Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow
  • Designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Confers with planning, manufacturing, and design staff on product design and tooling needs
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchases
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs
  • Plans capacities and supporting requirements with Manufacturing Engineering Manager
  • Applies ergonomic and safety practices in manufacturing processes
  • Leads cross-functional teams in problem solving and product introduction
  • Supervises non-exempt personnel related to Manufacturing Engineer Support
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Related Field
  • 5+ years related work experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer or Supervisor
  • Technical skills training and development
  • Change management and strategic thinking abilities
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines
  • Dependability and adaptability in a manufacturing environment
