Job Description

Overview

AtmosZero is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead the production of advanced thermal systems such as unfired boilers and steam-generating heat pumps. This role focuses on driving manufacturability, quality, and delivery performance while scaling operations from design to high-volume production.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing manufacturing engineering team
  • Define and execute manufacturing strategies aligned to growth and electrification
  • Drive product industrialization (DFMA) for boilers, steam systems, and heat pumps
  • Optimize designs for fabrication, assembly, and serviceability
  • Oversee pilot builds, validation, and manufacturing readiness
  • Design efficient layouts and production lines for large-scale equipment
  • Implement lean principles to enhance flow and reduce cycle time
  • Act as the engineering lead for critical suppliers and drive supplier quality
  • Standardize manufacturing processes and lead Lean/Six Sigma improvements
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards and champion safe practices

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related engineering field
  • 10+ years in manufacturing engineering (thermal systems, HVAC, boilers, or industrial equipment)
  • 3-5+ years leading engineering teams
  • Deep DFMA experience for thermal/fluid systems
  • Expertise in fabrication processes (welding, brazing, machining, forming)
  • Experience scaling from pilot to full production
  • Strong knowledge of heat transfer, pressure systems, and electro-mechanical assembly
  • ASME pressure vessel manufacturing experience (nice to have)
  • Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt) is a plus
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP and manufacturing analytics
