Job Description

Overview

A.O. Smith is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for its Ashland City, Tennessee location to enhance manufacturing processes and ensure optimal productivity. This role involves evaluating current operations, implementing improvements, and collaborating with various teams to maximize efficiency and product quality.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate improvements to manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Apply ergonomic and safety practices in manufacturing
  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods using data analysis
  • Develop capital cost justification for new tooling and equipment
  • Analyze workforce utilization and design efficient workspace layouts
  • Participate in Product Development System (PDS) as a team member
  • Confer with vendors and management regarding product specifications
  • Estimate production times and staffing requirements for management
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Collaborate with engineering, supervisors, and maintenance personnel

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of related work experience or training
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Analytical and data collection skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
