Overview

A.O. Smith is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to work in their Ashland City, Tennessee location. The role involves analyzing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and product quality, while adhering to safety and ergonomic practices. The Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate with various teams and manage capital cost justifications to optimize productivity and implement innovative solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinate improvements and changes to manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Evaluate manufacturing methods and identify areas for improvement
  • Develop capital cost justifications for tooling and equipment
  • Analyze workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow
  • Ensure Design for Manufacturability in product development
  • Confer with vendors and management regarding product specifications and production schedules
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles including Continuous Improvement and KanBan
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot and set up equipment

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of related work experience or training
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures
  • Strong reporting and business correspondence skills
  • Mathematical skills including probability and statistical inference
  • Problem-solving abilities with data collection and analysis
