Overview

The Manager Nursing Unit for Labor & Delivery oversees the operations of the nursing unit, providing guidance and support to staff while ensuring quality patient care. This role involves collaboration with leaders and team members to enhance efficiency, focusing on new grad RN retention, patient experience, and compliance with performance improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage operations of the nursing unit

  • Oversee compliance with Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement initiatives
  • Manage staffing patterns and budget

Required skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • 5 years of nursing experience in a hospital setting
  • 2 years of charge or leadership experience
  • Licensed RN in Vermont
  • BLS Certification through American Heart Association
  • Unit-specific certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, EFM, STABLE)
  • Strong clinical nursing practice knowledge
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Clinical program development
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Knowledge of financial aspects of department operations
