Overview

Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a Manager of Inpatient Nursing for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This pivotal role involves maintaining accountability for clinical and personnel activities, ensuring high-quality, family-centered patient care while collaborating with various healthcare team members.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain clinical competency and meet physiological, psychosocial, and developmental needs of patients.
  • Monitor and facilitate patient throughput to ensure safe, quality, and efficient care.
  • Coordinate patient care with healthcare team members to achieve desired clinical outcomes.
  • Serve as a liaison between physicians, families, nursing staff, and ancillary departments.
  • Address human resources issues and develop nursing staff for high-quality patient care.
  • Monitor productivity and align staffing and resources with patient care needs.
  • Support the implementation of unit goals and communicate the organization's strategic plan.
  • Participate in unit-based quality initiatives to develop and monitor nursing clinical outcomes.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license by Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association
  • Certification in specialty-specific area or nursing leadership preferred
  • 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Pediatric critical care nursing experience highly preferred
