Overview

American Airlines is looking for a Manager of Legal & Labor Communications to support their Legal and Labor organization. This strategic role involves developing and executing communication strategies aimed at protecting the company's reputation and promoting engagement across various stakeholder groups.

Key responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic communications partner to Legal and Labor Relations teams.
  • Develop and execute internal and external communication plans for legal initiatives and labor relations.
  • Draft communications including press releases, leader memos, and FAQs related to legal and labor matters.
  • Support media interviews and internal briefings for leadership.
  • Monitor legal and labor developments affecting company reputation and develop response plans.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Government Affairs, and People teams for consistent messaging.
  • Manage sensitive information with discretion.
  • Create content for internal platforms to engage team members on legal and labor topics.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media covering legal and labor affairs.
  • Measure and report on communication strategies' effectiveness.
  • Support crisis communications and issues management.
  • Foster trust and collaboration between Legal, Labor, and company leadership.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in corporate or agency communications, especially related to legal or labor relations.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills.
  • Experience in managing media relations and serving as a spokesperson.
  • Ability to develop communication strategies for legal and labor topics.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong project management skills.
