Job Description

Overview

Zappos.com LLC is seeking a Manager III for Systems, responsible for overseeing the IT Support and Networking Engineering teams for Zappos and Shopbop. This role requires leading a team of 8-10 engineers across multiple locations, ensuring reliable IT infrastructure and network systems while focusing on exceptional customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

  • Hire, onboard, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals across multiple locations
  • Establish performance standards, KPIs, and SLAs for the team
  • Manage network infrastructure and ensure high availability (99.99% uptime)
  • Oversee Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and cloud-based systems
  • Manage incident response from triage to post-incident review
  • Maintain audio/visual and studio production technology infrastructure
  • Collaborate with Amazon IT to drive automation and operational efficiency
  • Lead network expansions, infrastructure builds, and technology migrations
  • Conduct site visits to assess infrastructure health and operational needs

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience in developing technical teams across multiple locations
  • 4+ years of experience in leading technology teams as an IT operations manager
  • Network engineering experience with large-scale networks
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud services
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration and Active Directory
  • Familiarity with IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, COBIT)
  • Experience with scripting (Python, PowerShell)
  • Proficiency with Mac and PC device management platforms
  • Experience in e-commerce or retail technology environments
  • Knowledge of audio/visual systems and studio production technology
