Job Description

Overview

The University of Illinois Foundation is seeking a Manager of Data Engineering and Analytics to lead a team responsible for building and maintaining enterprise data solutions. This role will directly contribute to the Foundation's fundraising and advancement operations by enhancing data delivery and reporting capabilities throughout the organization.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a team of data analysts, developers, and engineers, setting strategic priorities and delegating work.
  • Direct the migration from legacy systems to a cloud analytics platform using Microsoft Fabric.
  • Implement structured SDLC practices, including request intake and release management.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align data capabilities with organizational strategies.
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise data warehouse and reporting solutions.
  • Develop SQL queries, analyze datasets, and support data environments.
  • Oversee the maintenance of data delivery layers for ad-hoc analysis.

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing data products and analytics solutions.
  • 3+ years of managing technical staff.
  • Strong SQL expertise for developing queries and analyzing datasets.
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau for dashboard creation.
  • Understanding of data modeling principles like star/snowflake schemas.
