Job Description

Overview

The Manager, Claims Operations at USAA will oversee auto, property, and other claims operations member service employees, ensuring they effectively investigate, evaluate, and negotiate claims while delivering exceptional service to members. This role involves coaching employees, driving operational improvements, and maintaining compliance with risk management and regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

  • Inspect and review the quality of claim files and provide feedback to employees
  • Coach employees to understand how their work supports overall claims strategies
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and member experiences
  • Manage workload volumes, staffing, and training needs to achieve optimal productivity
  • Monitor work to ensure consistent execution of processes and adherence to guidelines
  • Handle escalations and make decisions based on policies
  • Guide employees in skill identification and career progression
  • Hire, develop, and coach claims employees for results delivery

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of related experience
  • 6 years of customer service, operational, military or leadership experience with claims handling
  • 2 years of direct team lead, supervisory or management experience
  • Experience using data to make decisions
  • Claims handling and leadership skills
  • Acquisition and maintenance of applicable insurance adjuster license within 6 months
  • Experience in Complex Non-Injury Auto coverage and liability decisioning
  • Military experience or connection through spouse/domestic partner
