Overview

The Maintenance Tech role at West Fraser involves operating and maintaining machinery within a lumber mill, specifically focusing on the planer machine. The technician will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and assisting in major repairs while ensuring safety procedures are followed.

Key responsibilities

  • Use personal protective equipment and follow safety procedures
  • Perform critical measurements using a caliper
  • Set, monitor, and maintain planar machine operation
  • Feed the Planer to ensure continuous lumber flow
  • Maintain proper setup and operation of the planer
  • Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on machines
  • Assist with major repairs of machines
  • Change knives and conduct housekeeping tasks as assigned
  • Complete required training and competency checklists
