Overview

The Maintenance Laborer position at the City of Everett Housing Authority is a full-time, non-exempt role focused on maintaining various properties. The successful candidate will assist in custodial duties, unit turns, pest control, and basic repairs across multiple trades while working collaboratively with senior maintenance staff.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with unit turns, inspections, and preventive maintenance
  • Perform custodial work and grounds keeping
  • Execute basic repairs in carpentry, plumbing, or low-voltage electrical work
  • Complete daily updates of work orders in Yardi system
  • Maintain effective communication with supervisors and team members
  • Participate in annual maintenance inspections
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies when on call
  • Follow safety procedures and EHA policies

Required skills

  • Basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry knowledge
  • Custodial and janitorial best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and automated work order systems
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools
  • Basic math skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
