Job Description

Overview

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Maintenance and Engineering Manager for its Engineered Wood Products business at the Kenora TimberStrand manufacturing facility. This role entails leading maintenance associates to enhance machine productivity and ensure facility upkeep while fostering a safety-first culture and continuous improvement in operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and ensure adherence to safety standards and processes
  • Maximize improvements in maintenance functions
  • Manage preventative maintenance and process reliability efforts
  • Oversee department budget and cost effectiveness
  • Develop and train associates, conduct performance reviews, and hold team accountable
  • Contribute to strategic planning and provide input on operational issues
  • Collaborate with regional engineers and external contractors
  • Build positive relationships to enhance mill operations
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment issues
  • Participate in safety or environmental initiatives as needed

Required skills

  • Five years of maintenance leadership experience in industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Strong commitment to safety and safety initiatives
  • Ability to lead teams effectively and promote teamwork
  • Good knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and PLC programming/troubleshooting
  • Experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting
  • Expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance methods
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems creatively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to travel occasionally
  • Physical ability to work in industrial environments
