Overview

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Maintenance and Engineering Manager for their Engineered Wood Products business in Kenora, Ontario. The role encompasses overseeing maintenance functions, ensuring safety, optimizing productivity, and driving improvements within the facility. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manufacturing, a commitment to safety, and excellent leadership skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead all maintenance associates and functions
  • Model safety standards and processes
  • Drive preventative maintenance and process reliability efforts
  • Manage department budget and cost effectiveness
  • Develop and train associates, conduct performance reviews
  • Contribute to strategic planning and provide direction on improvements
  • Build positive relationships with operations and maintenance personnel
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues

Required skills

  • Five years of experience in a maintenance leadership role
  • Strong commitment to safety in manufacturing
  • Experience with electrical, mechanical, and PLC programming
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methods
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with team members
  • Willingness to travel and support a 24/7 operating environment
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering (preferred)
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles (preferred)
  • Knowledge of SAP or other CMMS systems (preferred)
