Overview

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Maintenance and Engineering Manager to oversee maintenance functions at the Kenora TimberStrand manufacturing facility in Ontario. This role involves driving improvements in maintenance processes, ensuring safety, and maximizing machine productivity while fostering a culture of inclusion and accountability among the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead safety standards and processes, ensuring compliance with core values
  • Manage all maintenance personnel and functions, focusing on productivity and uptime
  • Drive and implement improvements in maintenance processes
  • Accountable for department budget and cost-effectiveness
  • Develop and train maintenance associates, conduct performance reviews
  • Collaborate with regional engineers and external contractors to recommend improvements
  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical equipment issues
  • Contribute to strategic planning and provide solutions to operational challenges

Required skills

  • Five years of experience in a maintenance leadership role
  • Strong commitment to safety in a manufacturing environment
  • Leadership and teamwork abilities
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and PLC programming issues
  • Experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in preventive and predictive maintenance methods
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and support a 24/7 operating environment
