Job Description

Overview

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Maintenance and Engineering Manager to lead maintenance operations at the Kenora TimberStrand manufacturing facility. The role emphasizes safety, operational excellence, and employee development within the Engineered Wood Products business. The successful candidate will oversee maintenance associates, improve maintenance processes, and ensure optimal productivity and uptime of machinery.

Key responsibilities

  • Model safety standards and processes
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team for performance improvements
  • Lead preventative maintenance and process reliability efforts
  • Manage department budget and ensure cost-effectiveness
  • Develop and train associates, conduct performance reviews, and ensure accountability
  • Contribute to strategic planning and provide solutions to issues
  • Work with regional engineers and contractors for improvements
  • Maintain relationships with operations and maintenance personnel
  • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues

Required skills

  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance leadership in manufacturing
  • Commitment to safety initiatives
  • Ability to lead teams and promote teamwork
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and PLC programming/troubleshooting
  • Experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting
  • Expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance methods
  • Organizational and planning skills
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operating environment
