Job Description

Overview

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Maintenance and Engineering Manager for their Kenora TimberStrand manufacturing facility. This role requires a leader who is passionate about safety, team development, and operational excellence within the wood products industry, focusing on maximizing machine productivity and uptime while maintaining the facility's condition.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance associates and functions with a focus on safety and operational excellence
  • Drive improvements in maintenance processes and implement cost-effective solutions
  • Manage department budget and key performance indicators
  • Develop and train maintenance team members, conducting performance reviews and coaching
  • Collaborate with regional engineers and external contractors for operational improvements
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues as needed
  • Contribute to strategic planning and process reliability efforts
  • Promote positive relationships with operations and maintenance personnel

Required skills

  • Five years of experience in a maintenance leadership role in an industrial environment
  • Proven commitment to safety initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and PLC programming/troubleshooting
  • Experience in root cause analysis and preventive/predictive maintenance methods
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and planning skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with leadership and associates
  • Willingness to support a 24/7 operating environment and travel occasionally
