Job Description

Overview

The Maintenance & Engineering Manager will oversee maintenance, reliability, and engineering operations in a 24/7 heavy industry manufacturing plant. The role emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and mentoring a skilled technical team to maximize equipment uptime and ensure efficient operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Champion safety and enforce LOTO, confined space, hot work, and contractor programs
  • Lead maintenance and reliability programs
  • Maximize uptime through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance
  • Use CMMS to plan and prioritize work aligned with production
  • Guide and mentor mechanics, electricians, and technicians
  • Lead outages, shutdowns, and capital projects
  • Provide mechanical, electrical, and automation technical leadership
  • Control budgets and manage critical spare parts strategy
  • Oversee vendors, OEMs, and contractors for quality and compliance

Required skills

  • BS Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years in heavy manufacturing industry
  • Leadership experience in a unionized setting
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical/reliability practices
  • Working knowledge of PLC/DCS systems
  • Familiarity with Lean tools
