Job Description

Overview

The Maintenance Associate at SBCS Corporation is responsible for the repair and maintenance of various facilities owned and rented by the organization, including apartment complexes and office buildings. This role requires hands-on work, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and general upkeep, while supporting community services aimed at improving the well-being of children, youth, and families in San Diego.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs for all facilities and equipment.
  • Handle repairs and maintenance requests efficiently.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure optimal working conditions of equipment and systems.
  • Prepare and clean units for new clients.
  • Complete emergency maintenance and repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs as directed.
  • Attend required agency meetings and training.
  • Operate a pallet jack and drive agency vehicles when needed.

Required skills

  • Two years of maintenance experience or training in a facility/residential setting.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, drywall, and painting.
  • Ability to read and write English and communicate effectively.
  • Basic computer skills with MS Office applications and web-based systems.
  • Cultural sensitivity when working with clients in crisis.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
