Overview

Fortin Racing, Inc. is seeking a CNC Machinist to join their team in El Cajon, California. The role involves building high-performance drivetrain components for motorsports applications, focusing on precision and quality. The ideal candidate will work in a small, agile team and have opportunities for growth in CNC programming and advanced machining techniques.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills (3 & 4 axis)
  • Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Select tooling, workholding, and machining strategies
  • Perform first article inspections and in-process quality checks
  • Edit CNC programs and make adjustments at the machine
  • Maintain tight tolerances and ensure high-quality output
  • Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace

Required skills

  • 3+ years CNC machining experience
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, feeds/speeds, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T
  • Experience holding tight tolerances
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and reliable
  • Experience editing G-code (preferred)
  • CAM software experience (Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.) (preferred)
  • Background in motorsports or high-performance parts (preferred)
