Job Description

Overview

As a Machinist 1 at Daniel Defense, you will be integral to the manufacturing process, maintaining productivity by troubleshooting production issues and performing setups under the guidance of experienced engineers and supervisors. Your role involves operating various machines, ensuring quality through precision measurements, and assisting in the training of new operators.

Key responsibilities

  • Conform to operator work instructions, SOPs, and safety procedures
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment
  • Operate all machines and processes in the assigned cell
  • Make offsets to tools and calibrate instruments as needed
  • Troubleshoot machine issues affecting production quality
  • Perform repetitive inspections using precision measurement tools
  • Assist in monitoring process flow to meet production targets
  • Train machine operators in their assigned duties
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety and environmental health principles
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity

Required skills

  • High school diploma or GED; 2-4 years of manufacturing experience
  • Technical degree or approved apprenticeship in CNC operation is a plus
  • Knowledge of GD&T, machine tool programming (G & M codes), and blueprint reading
  • Ability to anticipate machine actions and manage machine settings
  • Familiarity with metalworking tools and procedures
  • Strong teamwork and cooperation skills
