Job Description

Overview

The Machine Operator 1 position at Loram Maintenance of Way involves operating, maintaining, and repairing railway maintenance and inspection equipment in a field-based role. Candidates will work with various types of Loram's on-track machinery and be responsible for ensuring safety and equipment effectiveness during operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and repair railway maintenance and inspection equipment
  • Conduct machine inspections to identify problems and communicate conditions
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs according to company policies
  • Lead job briefings during operations and maintenance shifts
  • Accurately document field reporting and administrative requirements

Required skills

  • 3+ months experience working with Loram equipment or similar
  • 2+ years technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and machine operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Experience with heavy equipment operation like Backhoe or Excavator
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of data systems
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain Class B CDL
  • Maintain Railroad Certifications and CPR/First Aid
