Overview

The Machine Operator 1 role at Loram Maintenance of Way involves operating, maintaining, and repairing railway maintenance and inspection equipment. This field-based position requires adherence to safety protocols while executing machine operations and performing routine technical inspections and maintenance tasks.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct machine inspections to identify and communicate problems, defects, and hazards
  • Operate and maintain on-track maintenance equipment and vehicles
  • Lead safety briefings and follow safe work processes
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs as instructed
  • Accurately document daily field reports and administrative tasks
  • Provide feedback on machine conditions to assist maintenance decisions

Required skills

  • 3+ months experience with Loram equipment or equivalent
  • 2+ years technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic operations
  • Heavy equipment operation experience (e.g., Backhoe, Excavator)
  • Basic administration and computer skills, with MS Windows experience
  • Ability to maintain Railroad Certifications and CPR/First Aid
  • Valid Driver's License and potentially a Commercial Driver's License
