Overview

The Machine Operator 1 (MO1) role at Loram Maintenance of Way is focused on operating, maintaining, and repairing railway maintenance and inspection equipment. This field-based position requires safety compliance and technical expertise, as well as the ability to conduct machine inspections and report on maintenance needs. The operator will work with various equipment based on business demands and must demonstrate strong communication and administrative skills.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain railway maintenance and inspection equipment
  • Conduct machine inspections and perform common repairs
  • Ensure compliance with safety processes and procedures
  • Accurately document all maintenance activities and reports
  • Lead job briefings and communicate effectively with team members
  • Record and report parts used to supervisors
  • Demonstrate operation of emergency equipment

Required skills

  • 3+ months experience with Loram equipment or equivalent
  • 2+ years of technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic operations
  • Experience operating heavy equipment like Backhoe or Excavator
  • Basic administrative computer skills and working knowledge of data systems
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain railroad certifications
  • Ability to meet pre-employment requirements including physical and drug tests
