Job Description

Overview

The Machine Operator 1 at Loram Maintenance of Way is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing railway maintenance and inspection equipment. This field-based position requires supervision in operating on-track MOW equipment and vehicles while adhering to safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain railway maintenance and inspection equipment
  • Conduct machine inspections to identify problems and communicate conditions
  • Perform common repairs as instructed and maintain accurate reporting
  • Lead job briefings and follow safe work processes
  • Document daily field reporting and administrative tasks

Required skills

  • 3+ months experience working with Loram equipment or equivalent
  • 2+ years demonstrated technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic operations
  • Heavy equipment operation experience (Backhoe, Excavator)
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of data systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Railroad Certifications, CPR/First Aid, and a valid Driver's License
