Overview

The Machine Operator 1 role at Loram Maintenance of Way involves operating, maintaining, and repairing railway maintenance and inspection equipment in a field-based setting. This position requires adherence to safety protocols and involves travel for equipment operations and inspections.

Key responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain railway maintenance and inspection equipment
  • Conduct machine inspections to identify problems, defects, and hazards
  • Perform maintenance and repairs according to set schedules and policies
  • Lead job briefings and ensure adherence to safety procedures
  • Document daily field reports and personal expense reporting

Required skills

  • 3+ months experience with Loram equipment or equivalent
  • 2+ years of technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic operations
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes and excavators
  • Basic administration and computer skills
  • Knowledge of data systems and remote equipment operations
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Class B CDL
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
