Overview

The Machine Operator 1 (MO1) at Loram Maintenance of Way is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing railway maintenance and inspection equipment. This field-based role requires adherence to safety protocols and involves working with various equipment platforms as needed.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct machine inspections to identify problems, defects, and hazards
  • Operate company railway maintenance and inspection equipment with supervision
  • Perform maintenance and repairs according to set schedules and policies
  • Provide accurate feedback for maintenance decisions
  • Document daily field reporting and administrative tasks
  • Lead job briefings focused on safety during operations
  • Maintain all necessary certifications and licenses

Required skills

  • 3+ months experience with Loram equipment or equivalent
  • 2+ years of technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as Backhoe or Excavator
  • Basic administration and computer skills
  • 1+ year working knowledge of MS Windows
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a Class B CDL
