Overview

The Machine Operator 1 at Loram Maintenance of Way is a field-based role responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing railway maintenance and inspection equipment. The position requires adherence to safety protocols and involves working with various types of machinery while providing technical feedback to support maintenance decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct machine inspections to identify problems and communicate conditions to supervisors
  • Perform maintenance and repairs according to established schedules and policies
  • Lead job briefings during operations and maintenance shifts
  • Accurately report common parts used and complete field documentation
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed and all emergency equipment is understood
  • Demonstrate proficiency in machine operation and technical knowledge

Required skills

  • 3+ months experience with Loram equipment or equivalent
  • 2+ years of technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and machine operations
  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as Backhoe or Excavator
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of MS Windows
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain Railroad Certifications
