Job Description

Overview

Wegmans is seeking a part-time Loss Prevention Officer in Ithaca, NY, who will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of customers and employees in the store. This role involves patrolling the premises, addressing safety concerns, and effectively managing conflicts.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain high visibility near the front entrance and survey outside parking areas
  • Escort employees and customers as requested
  • Intervene and effectively diffuse customer conflicts
  • Inspect perimeter doors, windows, and gates to ensure high levels of security
  • Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity

Required skills

  • 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority
  • Valid license to carry a firearm
  • Valid driver's license
  • Conflict management and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgement skills and ability to manage conflict under pressure
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful environments
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze, and identify opportunities
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field (preferred)
  • Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) (preferred)
